Backup is an essential element for every user. There are tons of applications to backup your data including Contacts & Messages. Backup is an always great option if you have one single phone but users like me who has multiple phones with different mobile numbers for personal & official use, find it almost impossible to have sms organized beacuse I do change my handsets between my numbers.
Well a new utility SMSSyncUp by Mohitsapru makes it all very easy for me. He has made a utility to sync sms with my Gmail account. The utility do has its share of bugs but works out very fine if done as told by mohit himself.
To make the utility work would should have Gmail account setup in your poutlook. And next all it takes is a few simple steps:
- Open the application.
- In the “Select Gmail Account:” drop down choose Gmail
- In the “Send To:” field enter your Gmail account Id.
- Select Menu->Login((it is not an actual login, you need to configure your Gmail account in Pocket Outlook)
- Login should enable the “Sync SMS Folder” dropdown with all your SMS folders.
- In the “Sync SMS Folder” select the folder to backup.
- Click Menu->Sync SMS Folder, This should start the message conversion to mail format. Progress will be displayed.
- On completion it will prompt and then ask you if you want to sync, select Yes.
- Syncing would send Emails with Subject IMAPSMS|<FOLDER NAME> :Sender and the body will contain Message and time, the subject should help you to create proper rules in your gmail account.
That’s done. Now you can sync your sms across various windows mobile phones.
