Infinity – New UI For Windows Mobile

Infinity is a new user interface currently in development. Its first alpha release is out to try, which seems to be promising. As of now it features:

A basic lock screen
Two widgets, a digital clock and one to place shortcuts on the desktop
A customizable startmenu
A notification manager (click on the taskbar)
Own taskbar

There are still some important things missing (e.g. contact list, messaging, etc.). Here is a small todo list of whats planned to be done next:

Customizable lock screen
Contact list
Messaging
Release of the Widget SDK (which helps you to simply create own widgets!)
Create more widgets
Online addin to browse and download widgets/themes/wallpapers
Lots of options to configure your Infinity

This version works with Windows Mobile 5, 6.x but probably not 6.5.3.
Landscape mode is not yet supported.

MultiTouch SDK For All Windows Mobiles Released

Just after we broke MultiTouch Prototype for all Windows Mobiles, xda user anaadoul have released an MultiTouch SDK for Resistive Screens but as of now its in Pre-alpha preview. He has uploaded an youtube video showing it in action, he also has developed an application which is available to download bundled with the dll used.

Here’s the youtube preview:

To Use the demo, place 1st finger on the image, then place the 2nd finger also on the image and slide your second finger in or out!

Find Me – Spy on anyone’s location via SMS

Find Me by sms is an application in development by xda member adam2022 it can be used to find out anyone’s location via sms. With a simple sms you can get the GPS cordinates or the CellID (tower) information in the absense of GPS. The process can be all hidden i.e. the owner of the cell phone will not be notified. The application can be PIN protected so only those who know the PIN can find out the location.

Here’s how to use it:

1. Install FindMeSMS on the Windows Mobile phone to be tracked.

2. Send SMS to the tracked phone. SMS message must have this code in it: fm?

3. Receive SMS reply. Click on the link in SMS reply to display map showing location.

If PIN protection is enabled then the query SMS needs to inlude the PIN. eg: fm?1234

For Developers – Manilla Interface SDK v2.1

User michyprima over at xda has been working on to make development a bit easier for developers. He has built an SDK to provide the functionality of Manilla in applications with ease. So, Dive in developers.

Some of the features of the SDK are:

Automatically detects screen size and dpi and adapt images to it.
Various manila styled controls, to allow you make a better-looking .net application.
Possibility to override automatical screen detection if it doesn’t work for you.
Kinetic scrolling list control, where you can add any kind of control into it to make your app finger friendly.

New version 2.1 brings with it:

ManilaNewTextBox (ManilaTextBox declared as obsolete).
Variable list items height i.e list items can have their own height.
ManilaSeparatorItem.
Various bugfixes and enhancement.
Removed unuseful things.

If you have some references missing you need to remove them from the project and readd them. 50chickens have included system.sr.dll since .netcf has a problem with exceptions unless you add this dll as a reference into your project.

iPhoneToday Shares Source Code

iPhoneToday is the iPhone UI simulation on Windows Mobile. It has now revealed its Source Code for anyone to develop it further.

An xda member MiToNiOeS hardwork brings the iPhone UI to windows mobile, the software is currently at v1.3 with features as:

- Multiples screens (With animates transactions)
- Notification on icons for calls, sms, etc
- Is a Today (No problems when we push the home button, no problems with incoming calls.
- Compatibility with others todays (Example: Date Today and iPhoneToday after), today height configurable
- QVGA, VGA, WVGA… (The user define the icon size and height screen)
- UI for Icons managings
- UI for configuration
- Very low memory
- FAST!
