It was widely expected that Windows Mobile 7 will be released in first quarter of 2010, although microsoft didn’t made any announcement for that. Now its revealed that windows mobile 7 will go on sales in the third quarter of 2010. Windows Mobile 7 goes to manufacturers in Q1 2010 (i.e. by March 2010, probably it will be officially announced at Mobile World Congress in February 2010 and shown in limited form to Mobius participants next week) and on sale in Q3 2010 what practically means around September 2010.
The matter of fact is that indeed Windows Mobile 7 is very delayed and Q3 2010 means practically Microsoft is 3.5 years behind Apple. Its a bad news for all the Windows Mobile fans. When graph of windows mobile is on decline its not very good for microsoft too.
There is a rumor that if HTC HD2 would be upgradeable to Windows Mobile 7, then it could take advantage of multi-touch features of Windows Mobile 7 but it is still not confirmed by HTC. Our advice is don’t buy HTC HD2 until HTC will release official announcement that it is upgradeable to Windows Mobile 7.
